Hello, I’m Nigel and thanks for visiting Corlett Photography’s website. Please do take a look around and if you think my style is for you, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I am a documentary and portrait photographer based in Nottingham; however, I work across the UK and Europe. I use professional-grade Fujifilm X-Series cameras, lenses and other equipment and I am fully insured with Aaduki Insurance, both public liability and professional indemnity. I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).

As a documentary photographer, my aim is to tell a story through a series of images. The story might be a wedding or civil ceremony, a restaurant or gallery opening, a charity fundraiser, or a corporate event. In fact, anything where there's a story to be told. I shoot predominantly in black and white, in a candid, photojournalistic style, documenting events unobtrusively as they unfold. I believe this approach is right for capturing the images that will evoke memories for years to come. To this end, I use small, rangefinder cameras, with a few prime lenses, relying on natural or ambient light wherever possible, supplemented with flash or LED lighting only when necessary. I take a similar approach with my portrait photography; I strive for each of my pictures to say something about the person in front of the lens. I prefer to shoot studio-esque or environmental portraits in your home or office, relying on natural or ambient-light supplemented by flash or LED lighting as needed.
